Practice Philosophy

At RTA, we realize that the success of our group relies upon the competency and professionalism of our physicians. Therefore, we hire only board-certified/board-eligible anesthesiologists. However, our physicians are not only excellent practitioners but also parents, spouses, sisters, and brothers. We strive to honor each physician’s work-life choice, allowing them to taylor their practice to their specific needs. We endeavor to foster a strong cohesive group by ascribing to a set of Core Values.

Buy-In / Payment Structure

There is no buy-in to RTA. We employ a modified production-based payment structure that is based on a two-month rolling average of monthly unit production. Each physician collects a percentage of total collections based on their two-month rolling average. While this does result in a 2 month “ramp-up” following employment and a similar “ramp-down” period following separation from RTA, the resulting benefit is that large swings in payment due to vacation or illness are minimized.


Each physician is assigned approximately 3 primary weekday calls per month and 3 backup weekday calls per month. Currently, each physician is assigned approximately one weekend per month. Weekend call consists of a 72-hour call with two physicians alternating primary and backup call in 24-hour blocks. RTA covers anesthesia services at our partner hospital, Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center. St. Mary’s is a level 3 trauma center with 380-beds located in downtown Reno.


A portion of each physician’s monthly allocation of collections is withheld in order to cover the administrative, billing and malpractice costs.
